Cambridgeshire FA - developing football for everyone
About Us - promoting local football

Diane Bradshaw

County Welfare Officer

How did you become involved in football and when?
I became involved with football in 1992 when my oldest son started playing for Benwick Athletic Football Club.

Six months later I became Secretary for the club and was also appointed as the club welfare officer.

What is your greatest achievement in football?
When I left Benwick Athletic in November 2008 I was then approached by the Chairman of March Town United and invited to become a Director of the club.

What do you most enjoy about your role at the Cambs FA?
I enjoy my role at Cambs FA where I meet all club welfare officers and we all keep in close contact with each other. Working with the Development Team at Cambs FA, I help promote and support Gerry with courses that we hold and Jo with promoting the importance of becoming a charter standard club.

And what is your greatest challenge in your work?
Keeping children and young people safe within the football environment is my utmost priority and making sure that all people who have regular involvement with youngsters have the correct necessary qualifications.

I am in direct contact with other County Welfare Officers, CRB Unit, The FA Safeguarding Children Unit and The FA Case Management team. I also support League Welfare Officers within our County.

I am on the Respect Committee at Cambs FA and help promote safeguarding within the programme and encouraging club welfare officers to do the same.

There are no two days the same at work. Every day is different.

Your favourite team?
March Town United. Not just the first team. This includes the Reserves, Under 18’s and our new Under 17 team.

Blue is the colour in our household…but not Chelsea ………… Peterborough United!
