Club History
Established by budding-coach Paul Touil, the Cambridge Bluebirds were hatched on an uneven patch of grass on Jesus Green in the summer of 2003. In the beginning most of the players were council workers who had never played football before and just wanted to play football for fun. The club has always been run by its players and is very democratic so the team name was voted for and we became Cambridge Bluebirds.

When Paul left to pursue a teaching career a year on, the reins were taken over by current coach Dan Hornbrook, and the Bluebirds entered the S-Tech Cambridgeshire Women's league. Since then the Bluebirds have finished mid table most seasons and the team has steadily grown. A move in 2005 saw the team affiliated to Fulbourn Institute and renamed 'Fulbourn Bluebirds'.

Last season saw the clubs proudest achievement when we reached the League Cup final and almost won (3 – 4 in Extra Time against Histon Hornets).
The club is now in its 6th year and a new generation of players are coming through. We have established ourselves within the S-Tech league and look forward to building on our promising beginnings in the coming seasons.

General Profile

The club has always kept the ethos that the most important thing is that the players have fun and so the Bluebirds remain the friendliest and most welcoming of teams!

We always welcome players of all abilities and experience and we have players of a very wide range of ages from teenage to grandma. Our players come from far and wide too, from Ely, Cambridge and locals from Fulbourn. We also have quite a few doctors so first aid is not a problem!

Club Anthem
Our unofficial club song as written by Charlie Wilson is “We are the Bluebirds, cheep cheep, cheep cheep cheep” and do flapping birdie arms at the same time!

Wish List

1. To reach another cup final and win this time!
2. To win the league of course!
