Burwell Tigers represented Cambridgeshire at the National Mini Soccer Festival held at Northwick Park, Wembley. They played three games and then headed off to the new stadium to play their fourth and final match of the day on the pitch where legends have played.
As well as playing on the pitch and viewing the new stadium, they also had the opportunity to head up to the royal box and collect a commemorative medal - presented by Sir Geoff Hurst!
Judy Hunter, Secretary of Burwell Tigers wrote "It was the most awesome day for our young players and a dream come true to play on the pitch at Wembley and meet some of the most famous names in football. The whole day from the start at Northwick Park to the magic moments at Wembley were organised with amazing precision."
Judy went on to report "The mornings games against other Counties teams was great fun and summed up for us what mini league soccer is all about; the children learning the game of football and having fun! The sun shone, the parents cheered, we had picnics and there was plenty of opportunities for the children to learn new skills. Getting on to the coach to go to Wembley the excitment built and seeing the amazing stadium and then walking out from the stands and seeing the pitch for the first time was awesome! The experience of playing a game on the famous pitch, going up to the Royal Box, medals and photo's will be remembered forever!"
We would like to thank Judy and Burwell Tigers for their feedback after the event and we hope their experience has given them a great boost ahead of the new season.
