Why is mentoring important?
Mentoring coaches and other volunteers effectively will help your club to continue developing and providing high quality football opportunities. Mentoring will help with recruitment and retention of volunteers because mentoring can:
• Help people to quickly “learn the ropes” of a new role.
• Help people to meet their new colleagues and build a social network. • Help people to do their job correctly
• Help people build confidence, because they get feedback about if they are doing their jobs correctly.
• Help people get information more efficiently.
• Help people feel competent by having someone who gives them credit for their work.
• Help people feel satisfied in their role by providing a venting place for frustrations.
• Help people stay in their role, by helping to create a nice environment
• Help people feel like they are in a professional setting, working with people who are serious about their roles.
For FA Charter Standard Community Clubs One person must have attended this FA Mentoring Course - New Clubs by July 2010/ existing Clubs by July 2011.
