Street Child World Cup - Durban March 2010

9:15 AM, Tuesday, 23 February 10. News

In March 2010 eight teams of street children from around the world will be welcomed in Durban, South Africa to compete in the first ever Street Child World Cup.

No child should have to be on the streets and yet millions survive there every single day, routinely abused and mistreated.  The Street Child World Cup will celebrate the potential of street children and place them centre stage in a new call for their rights to be realised.

The teams will compete in a football tournament and work with an international team of artists to tell their stories in fresh and creative ways to the worldwide media, policy makers and sports personalities.

Cambridge based organisation, Momentum Arts  are involved in the  organisation of the Street Child World Cup; and are organising an arts programme that will enable street children to tell their stories through art, sculpture and drama, and bring these stories to a global audience.
