Expert Advice for Young Coaches

Members of the Cambridgeshire FA Football Futures group benefitted from the expert advice of FA Coach Educator Neil Andrews at the latest workshop held for young leaders.

The Mini Soccer coaching workshop was a two hour sample of coaching sessions and philosophy sampling both the Level 1 Award in Coaching Football and the youth award modules philosophy.

Neil, who is a lecturer at Cambridge Regional College. former captain of Histon FC , experienced non league footballer and an FA coach Educator, delivered the workshop which acted as an introduction for new coaches and providing inspiration for existing coaches.

Warm up games were followed by general technique, skill and game progressions.  The distinction between coaching in schools and clubs was highlighted.  Advice was given on engaging children effectively and supervising groups with ranges of abilities and ages.
