Bottisham Football Club welcomed a new generation of girls to the club to launch an U11s girls’ team on Saturday
In partnership with Cambridgeshire Football Association and the FA Tesco Skills programme the club have set up the new team to help develop girls’ football further in the area. Bottisham FC already have a number of girls playing in mixed teams at the club and this emerging group further caters for those that want to have fun playing the sport.
FA Tesco skills coach Danielle Quelch has been delivering coaching to the girls at Bottisham Primary School for the past 6 weeks as part of the programme to link the school with the club training sessions. The lunchtime coaching has proved very popular with the students with 20 players testing their football skills.
Danielle has been very pleased with the results. “The girls have really appreciated having their own football training and already feel part of a team. They are all eager to learn and develop their skills."
The girls met for their first club training session on Saturday and were greeted by club secretary, Caroline Broad and Chairman, Jim Tideswell. Caroline was ‘delighted to have a girls team playing at the club again’
Bottisham FC are hoping to enter the team in the S-Tech Girls league next season and would welcome additional players, currently in school years 5 and 6, that would like to join the one hour training sessions on Saturday mornings starting at 10am at Bottisham Village College.
