Council Review

In 2015 the Cambridgeshire FA began a process to look at the working of Council.

This came about as result of the Council itself identifying the need for a review to:
  • Align with the National Game Strategy and as result the CFA’s own strategy 15-19
  • To give the organisation its best possible opportunity to achieve performance objectives
  • To review its structure, people and process for succession planning
  • To examine current decision-making processes and identify how these might be improved
  • To improve information flows both internally and externally
  • To establish a Council structure and composition to meet the current and future challenges
The initial review was carried out by an independent Project Lead, Howard Cook, and he identified a number of recommendations, many of which have already been implemented by the CFA Council. These include:
  • Reform of the CFA Council Meetings to focus more on our performance objectives
  • The creation of a single Council report for each meeting to track performance
  • Reform of committee structures to align with strategic areas of work. For example the County Match Committee was reformed to become the Coaching and Player Development Committee
  • Committee Chairs to lead on strategic areas and work in tandem with staff to deliver defined projects
  • Widen representation across the whole game by the creation of a Youth Council and Inclusion Advisory Group
  • Greater involvement in decision making changing our Articles to ensure that a  member of Youth Council is now part of our full Council with voting rights
The Council has appointed a group to continue this work, and the meeting notes can be found below:
