Cambridgeshire FA Appoint New Chairman

Phil Hill has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Cambridgeshire Football Association replacing Roger Pawley who stood down after the recent Annual General Meeting. Roger who has served the Association in a number of positions over the past 48 years relinquishes the post having met the mandatory age for retirement as a Director.

 

Phil has also taken up the position of the FA representative for Cambridgeshire at Wembley.

 

Phil, who joined the Association in 1988 as a District Representative has been the Vice Chairman for the last six years as well as Chairman of the Referees Committee & Disciplinary Committee. Phil is also still an active referee observer having been a Southern League Referee.  He also served on the Alliance Sunday League in several positions.

 

Phil commented on his appointment “I must pay tribute to Roger Pawley for his leadership over the last 6 years which puts the Association in a strong position however my first challenge is to get football restarted after the effects of the lockdown due to the coronavirus and managing the 23% cut in funding from the FA which will affect all areas of our football locally’  

 

As well as Phil’s appointment of Chairman, Ian Greenstock was elected as Vice Chairman. Ian has served on the Council since 2009 as well as being a director for the past few seasons. Ian played for several clubs in Cambridgeshire as well as serving Whittlesford Warriors Football Club as Chairman.

 

Andrew Beattie, Phil Brasher and Andrew Durman were also appointed as Directors of the Association at the recent council meeting.
