Coach CPD

Session 1:
Topic: Foundation Phase - Benefits of Small Sided Games & The Match Day Experience
Date/Time: Saturday 18th June 9am-12pm
Location: Cambridgeshire FA HQ, Bridge Road, Impington, CB24 9PH
Delivered by: FA Coach Development Officers
Overview:
Benefits Of Small Sided Games
Join the Grassroots Coach Development team for a session where they will bring to life examples of small sided games and how they can be used to benefit the development of your players holistically. They will share a range of in and out of possession small sided games designed to help develop more skilful players.
The Match Day Experience
“Can we play a match” One of the most common phrases we hear when working with enthusiastic players who love the game. How do we as coaches, supporters and volunteers help keep that life-long love for the game and provide the best possible experiences we can when it comes to a match day?
In this workshop, we will aim to explore some of the challenges faced by coaches on a match day but also, the opportunities that it presents in terms of the following key aspects:
- Linking training to a match day.
- Supporting the learning and enjoyment of the players.
- How to plan, deliver and reflect effectively in relation to match day.
We will explore these areas through practical delivery and discussion to help you make the most of the favourite part of the week and give you some food for thought to support you throughout the season, with some hints, tips and ideas for you to take away and try out with your own players.

Session 2:

Topic: Youth Development Phase - Why Our Players Play & Developing Skilful Players
Date/Time: Saturday 18th June 12:30pm-3:30pm
Location: Cambridgeshire FA HQ, Bridge Road, Impington, CB24 9PH
Delivered by: FA Coach Development Officers
Overview:
Why Our Players Play
We hope this workshop has supported you to reflect on the reasons your players love playing football, the impact your behaviours as a coach can have on their enjoyment and provided some practical ideas for you to try out in training.
If you have two teams, a goal at both ends of the pitch and a way to win the game or practice you’re well on the way to helping players fall in love and stay in love with football.
Developing Skilful Players
This event will take a look into how we can help develop skilful behaviour within our players, what it looks like across the 4 corners, what practices might help and how we can shape the practice to encourage more exploration of skilful solutions.
The event will showcase a number of practices, delivered by our Coach Development Officers, for you to consider. They will highlight how we can apply a range of constraints that will present new problems for our players to overcome, they will ask you to observe and consider how the 4 corners interconnect and influence how players adapt to new situations.
