Kit Donated by Cambridgeshire Community Benefiting Football in Ghana

Sports Gen facilitates donations of sport items, kits, equipment and accessories to help grow grassroots football in Ghana.

Cambrdigeshire FA are delighted to be supporting Sports Gen in their mission to grow grassroots football in Ghana through the donation of sports kit and equipment.

In Ghana, they say it doesn’t rain, it pours. The frequent heavy downpour of rain renders many local football pitches in a deplorable state; yet, the children find themselves grateful to enjoy the game. At grassroots level, local teams have many challenges and issues to deal with, some of which have adversely impacted the development of youth football throughout Ghana.

“We played in barefoot and in our own casual home clothes with no regards to safety and comfortability. We dared to slide-tackle as the consequence is quite obvious – bruises and cuts from the stony pitches. The other challenge was without uniform football kits (tops and shorts), players had to play in the clothes they turned up at the football pitch with.”
Dr Gabriel Adusi, Founder of Sports Gen.

Following donations from Cambridgeshire FA, Huntingdonshire FA, St Neots Town Football Club and Ramsey Town Football Club in the summer of 2019 and throughout 2020, sports kits and equipment were shipped to Ghana in September 2021. The following photos tell a story of what a difference the donations are making to the local communities and schools in Ghana.
