The Cambridgeshire FA Advanced Coaching Centre is the only one in Cambridgeshire and the only pathway for talented young female players to progress to the England youth and senior squads.
The Girls’ Advanced Coaching Centre replaced the Girls’ Centre of Excellence at the beginning of the 2015-16 season.
The Centre, is licenced and supported by the Football Association, and provides talented young female players throughout Cambridgeshire and its surrounding areas with weekly additional training and fixtures, whilst still allowing them to play for their clubs.
It offers those players an opportunity to progress in football and access appropriate levels of coaching and support throughout the talent pathway, enabling the programme to reach its ultimate goal in producing elite female players to compete at international level.
The Girls’ Advanced Coaching Centre provides girls at U12, U14 and U16 age groups with season-long coaching once a week on the 3G pitch at Witchford Village College and a fixture programme with a minimum of six fixtures a season to support the girls’ development.
High-quality coaching from FA qualified staff who will hold a minimum of an FA Level 2 and Youth Module 2, with some UEFA B Licence coaches couple with all age groups having two qualified coaches working with them at all times and players having access to a sports therapist within the programme.
The Cambridgeshire FA Girls' Advanced Coaching Centre challenges the skills and development of players against other ACCs within the East Region – Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. This ensures high-quality competitive opportunities on a regular basis to challenge each player.
Training is regularly observed by The FA Regional Elite Women’s Coach Developer for the East along with support from other scouts who will attend ACC fixtures.
Players identified with elite potential will be offered the opportunity to trial to attend the Regional Excellence Camps for the East (U13, U15, and U17s). Players attending the Regional Excellence Camps will then aspire for selection to National Performance Camps (U15s) and international age groups (U15s, U16s and U17s).
