Introducing the new National Futsal Champions

Congratulations Milton Colts U10 Sky!

On the weekend of 16th and 17th of June a number of Cambridgeshire teams competed in the Regional Finals of the FA Youth Futsal Cup held at Cambridge University Sports Centre. Congratulations to all the teams that made it to this stage and thank you to Cambridge United Futsal for supporting at the event. Winners of the Regional Finals progressed through to the FA National Youth Futsal Cup – this included two Cambridgeshire teams, Cambridge City Girls U12 and Milton Colts U10 Sky.

The FA National Youth Futsal Cup took place on Sunday 24th June in Birmingham where we are delighted to announce that one of the Cambridgeshire teams Milton Colts U10s Sky won their age category to become the new U10 National Futsal Champions.

Milton Colts started their day with a 1-1 draw but went on to top their group. They played Chelsea Futsal Academy in the semi-final which went to penalties following a full time result of 1-1 thanks to a late Chelsea equaliser. All three Milton penalty takers showed great composure to score their penalties and win the match. Their final match of the day was against Nottingham futsal academy a team that hadn't lost all day, however with focus and concentration from the boys they went on to win 4-1 and be crowned National Futsal champions.

Michael Brown, Milton Colts Sky U10 coach sums up the day by saying “This is a massive achievement for my team and for me personally. I couldn’t be prouder of the team. To stand toe to toe against the best teams in the country and finish on top is amazing and I’ll remember this for ever. Who would have thought that a little village team called Milton Colts FC would end up National Champions?!”

Coaching & Player Development Officer Katie Critchley said “Cambridgeshire FA haven been pushing futsal in the county for the last three years and it’s really taken off. All youth teams have the opportunity to access fun festivals and competitive tournaments throughout the year which lead in to the FA National Youth Futsal Cup. It has been superb to see so many children develop and enjoy futsal, but to also see that we have teams that are capable of completing with the top teams in England. This is a fantastic achievement for Milton Colts U10!"
