We spoke to Stacey and here’s what she had to say about her appointment –
“I'm really excited about the appointment. It's a real privilege to of been selected. The appointment came completely out of the blue was a complete surprise I had to double check to make sure I was reading it right. This is just the cherry on top for what has already been a successful season for me gaining my promotion and also being assistant of the prestigious varsity game. I'm really looking forward to the experience and looking forward to working with the referee's who have also been successful on gaining this appointment.”
Cambs FA Referees’ Officer Sam Anderson said “Stacey has had an excellent season to-date and this highlights her achievements, alongside the Cambridge v Oxford Varsity Appointment and her County Cup Final she has received as well. To be recognised by The FA for her performances and commitment to refereeing is a fantastic honour for Stacey. Having only started refereeing in December 2017 her progression and rise has been phenomenal and highlights the dedication she has shown to Cambridgeshire Refereeing. To be appointed to an FA appointment is an honour in its self, so to receive a final is one of the highest on offer. We are extremely proud of Stacey’s appointment and success this season and hope to see many more of our officials receiving appointments of this nature in future years.”
From all at Cambridgeshire FA we would like to congratulate Stacey on her appointment and wish her the very best on the day and continued success in her refereeing career.
