Cambridgeshire Over 65s took on England Over 70s in a Vets football Challenge Match on 12th October 2022 at Fitzwilliam Sports Ground in Cambridge.

It was Cambridgeshire Over 65s first ever match and they were playing against a side who have played together for quite some time. 

England captain, Rob Beel put the visitors 1-0 up before Trevor George, the Cambridgeshire player-manager equalised for the hosts.

The score stayed 1-1 until half time. The second half saw both sides have chances, with Geoffrey Hargreaves hitting the post for England. Keith Wells had a wonderful chance to win the game for Cambridgeshire in the last few minutes, but the defender hit his shot high over the bar.

A great game for all the senior vets players, played in a good spirit whilst still very competitive.
