Referee Course FAQs

To gain access to the course, you are required to complete the following steps;

Step 1

CREATE A FAN ACCOUNT

If you are involved in football, either playing, coaching volunteering or are the parent of a player, you will have an FA Number (FAN)

If you are unsure, you can view your FAN number by logging into myaccount.thefa.com You can also try to find your FAN here.

Do not create a new account without confirming with the Referee team at Cambridgeshire FA.

Step 2

COMPLETE ONLINE LAWS OF THE GAME

Step 3

COMPLETE SAFEGUARDING FOR ALL

Step 4

OBTAIN FA DBS (if aged 16 and over)

Select Register from the login screen and enter the information requested, including:

Org Pin: 102249

Org Name: 1Cambridgeshire CFA

Secret Word: Cambs

 You can then arrange to have your documents verified in the CFA Office, we are open Mon, Wed, Thu 9-4pm

Step 5

REGISTER YOUR INTEREST

Once all of the above are completed, and there are courses available, Cambridgeshire County FA will send you a course booking link. 

Please refer to the FAQ's at the bottom of this page in the first instance if you incur any issues. 

The course is 11 hours long

£110.00 Course Only

This includes:

  • Referee registration for remainder of the season
  • Referee Association Membership for the first full season
  • 11 Hours direct contact time
  • Course resources
  • Whistle
  • Notepad & pencil
  • Red & yellow cards
  • Assistant Referee flags
  • Course induction pack
  • Post-course pack
  • A certificate on qualification (on successful completion of the course)
  • FA and Cambs FA Referee Badge (on successful completion of the course)

Note: Learners over the age of 16 years will be required to undertake a FA DBS enhanced check at an additional cost of £10 in order to referee in youth (U18) football.

The minimum age to book onto and attend a course is 14.

The skills network

mental health awareness course

The Skills Network are offering all referees and officials the opportunity to study a nationally recognised qualification at no cost. The course is fully funded by the Government and also long distance which means you can study at your own pace. Learners will gain a level 2 qualification, receiving their official CACHE accredited certificate in Awareness of Mental Health Problems
You must be:

  • Over 19 years of age
  • Have lived in the EU for the last 3 years
  • Not currently be studying another government funded course
