The Launch of The Future Game is well under way in Cambridgeshire. This is the FA Technical Guide for Young Player Development which outlines a philosophy and vision for the development of English football at Grassroots and Elite level. It has been compiled by expert coaches from the professional game and distributed to all Academy Managers in England.
Sir Trevor Brooking, The FA's Director of Football Development, said: "This is a vital document for the future of the English game. If we are serious about developing world class players for England, this is our start point."
The Future Game is aligned to the FA Youth Module courses, looking closely at the detail required to develop players in all areas of the game: Goalkeeping, Defending, Midfield and Forward play.
Players who are learning the game require guidance and support along each step of the player pathway. Their learning years must be nurtured along with the natural desire to be creative. This innovative method is translated to the player through effective coaching and the ability to make training sessions realistic and relevant to the game and also to the age and stage of the player.
Addressing this cultural shift is reliant on the development of better coaches. Do you have the attributes to positively affect young players and teams?
